Hi Guy's,
I have a zanussi washing machine model number zwf14070w that fills up but does not empty. I have followed the below instructions to get the error code, the error flashes 5 reds and 1 green. What do I need to do to fix it? Thanks.

Turn the dial to off.

Press and hold the 2 buttons.

While holding them, turn the dial 1 notch clockwise.

The display should flash or the machine buzz.

Let go of the buttons and the leds should start scrolling.

If they scroll (they did) , turn the dial a further 9 clicks clockwise.

The start light should flash.

Count the red flashes and let me know how many. (5)

Then, count the green flashes and let me know how many.(1)

Now turn the knob to off.

Turn it to any programme.

Turn it back to off.

This should reset the pcb and the software.

At this point, try the machine again to see if it spins. (I did this but nothing worked, the start button still flashes but nothing happens)

Hi,

It does have a drain only function. I have tried it but nothing happens. I have tried another cycle but nothing happens, no drum turns

Hiya,

Thanks for that.

I'm afraid it's not looking good at all.

The error code is E51 and this is a motor circuit fault.

The service manual simply states -

PCB faulty; current leakage from motor or from wiring.

Check the wiring to the motor, give them a good tug at the motor plug in case there's any broken ones.

Repair any broken wiring.

If the wiring is ok, I'm afraid you are looking a replacing the control board and probably the motor too.

Check it out, see what you find and get back to me.

Hi Fred,

My wife has actually put a wash on today and so far the machine seems to be working normally for some reason. I am waiting to see if it fully completes the operation

Unfortunatley the machine has stopped functioning. It did not complete the wash cycle

Have you checked the error codes again?

If it's E51, you have the motor circuit fault.

Hi Fred,

Have checked the error code, 5 red flashes and 1 green. I assume I need to replace the motor circuit. Is it expensive?

Hiya,

If it's both, it's extremely expensive, well over £200 for both.

The board is roughly £120 plus and the motor is more expensive

I'd suggest getting a quote from www.repaircare.co.uk

Not the best company in the country but they do fixed price repairs that include parts and labour.

I've also heard British Gas do this but you'd have to call them, I can't find it on their website.

Sorry, not good news or a simple fix.

Check the wiring to the motor.

Check the carbon brushes on the motor.

If they're ok, I'm afraid it's the expensive repair.
