Hello, I have a three year old Arctis 75278GA upright freezer…

Hi.

If the top shelf is frosted up, then there may be a problem with the unit's defrost system at the back of the freezer.

First check the following:

1 Check that the unit is not in cooling mode:

a. Hold down SUPER and the „+“ (WARMER) button simultaneously for 5 seconds.
- When the setting is switched from “Freezing” to “Cooling” “FC” (Freezing -Cooling) appears in the temperature display, an acoustic signal confirms the change and the temperature display changes to flashing figures.
- When the setting is switched from “Cooling” to “Freezing” “CF” (Cooling/Freezing) appears in the temperature display, an acoustic signal confirms the change and the temperature display changes to flashing figures (DESIRED temperature freezing mode -18 °C). The temperature for the freezing mode can now be entered.
b. Try operating the function a couple of times to make sure that mode is switched to CF (freezing).

2 Try using the Frostmatic button (near to temperature settings). After pressing the button a yellow light turned on will indicate that the function is active. Frostmatic can be used if temperature has been lowered down accidentally (i.e. through introduction of warm food or leaving the door open for too long).The function should accelerates freezing and protects from warming for 52 hours.

3 If that does not work, then try performing a complete defrost. Remove food from the inside and leave the unit off for 24 hours (disconnect power). If the freezer restarts working after defrost, then the unit needed a manual defrost to remove ice build-up from the coils behind the appliance. After performing defrost check that there is enough aeration at the back of the freezer.

If it is not possible to remove all food from inside the freezer, then a faster defrost can be performed using an hairdryer set on cold on the coils at the back of the unit and on the top compartment back-wall.

If defrost and settings do not help, then the problem can be the compressor or the electronic temperature control. Please, try the steps suggested above and let me know how it goes.
