My Amana side by side...

My Amana side by side refrigerator is 8 years old and it started with not cooling in the fridge because the freezer was frosted up so we replaced the defrost heater and that solved the problem for about a week. Then the same thing started happening, have had technician here about 8 times and they don't have a clue, say maybe it is the circuit board behind the temperature control panel. Now the fridge is working but the freezer does not work.
Any ideas? How long should an Amana last...more than 8 years I hope!

Is the freezer getting a bit cold?

Yes the freezer is a bit cold but not enough to keep ice cream frozen but the ice is not melting. No the compressor at the back is not hot to touch. But on the control panel the freezer temperature light is flashing and the open door warning light sometimes flashes even when the door is firmly shut.

Can you post the model number please.

It will be on a sticker inside the fridge at the top on the left.

Did you get my last post with the model number? The only new info is that the refrigerator is now getting quite noisy at times. The black trim around the fridge and the freezer inside that the doors rest on is warm but not hot.

Ok what you need to do is remove the plastic trim at the bottom and from there make sure this is all clear. Get rid or any dust or fluff built up in there.

Then remove the back panel and look at the compressor. At the side of this is the condenser fan.

Have a look and see if this is running.

I am sorry but I said in my original post that we have checked the compressor and it is fine..:all clear.. And we checked the fan and it is running fine. Can you tell me something new?
Do you think it is the temp control circuit board or something else?
