Have a Fl 884 model washing machine. Always use D wash selection but only option now working is C which is too hot. How can I restore D and other options?

No, no water goes in at all

Hiya,

OK, thanks for that.

The most likely cause of the problem is the cold inlet valve(s) have failed.

However, double check the cold water supply, check it's not been turned off accidentally.

Check that water actually comes through the hose.

Check the filter in the hose and valve.

Do you have, and can you use, a multimeter?

Hi,
Water coming through hose into machine as far as valve and filter no problem. Have removed valve and filter part, part of electrics still attached to it. Filter is dirty but have no idea best way to clean it, can it be taken out of casing to be cleaned or whats the best way to do it?

Hiya,

The filter can be pulled out with long nose pliers, if it's in the valve.

If it's in the hose, it can normally be prised out.

Then, clean it out under the tap.

Hi,
Cleaner filter put it back, then tried machine on rinse and spin and it took in cold water. Reassembled everything then tried wash on D cycle, with water turned on and everything in order as far as I could see but again no cold water being taken in. Anything else I can try?

No cold water being taken in on rinse, suppose that means I have done something wrong in reassembling things and that I need to recheck everything?

If it was working earlier, it should be working now.

Check to see if the fill hose has kinked.

Hi,
Spent the morning at machine. Rinse cycle worked only the first time. double checked everything twice but no joy. Took out detergent tray to see if any cold water coming through, only a trickle. Could it be that the valve is faulty and needs replacing? Has left me totally frustrated.

Hiya,

It can be the valve or the control.

If you have a multimeter, clip it to the inlet valve connections, set for ac volts and check to see if it's being powered.

If it is, and no water, the valve is faulty.

If it's not, the control is faulty.

If no multimeter, you'll need to replace the cold inlet valve to see if it's the cause.
