Thanks for letting me know how it went.

Good luck with the drains, the following will help once you've got the drainage sorted.

For the machine itself, it will need some aggressive cleaning to get rid of the smell, if the machine itself is smelly.

First, with nothing in the machine, run it on it's hottest wash.

This will dissolve quite a lot of the undissolved soaps and body fats. (they come out of the clothes when you wash them).

Let it run all the way through.

Next, run another hot wash with nothing in it, cancel when it empties the wash water.

You'll need to run 2 or 3 of these to clear out as much gunge as possible before using a cleaning product.

After this, obtain and use a washing machine cleaning product.

Follow the instructions for the product.

I know this product works as we use it on customer's machines regularly.

Each time you run the cleaning product through the machine, it will clean up a bit more.

When you use the machine, dry the door seal when you finish.

Leave the door slightly ajar.

This will help prevent the bacteria growing and causing a smell.

Once it's cleaned up, use the cleaner on a regular basis to keep it clean.

It's a lot of work and takes time to do properly.
