If you set the machine to spin only, does the drain pump run?
Does the drum turn?
Does the machine fill with water when you select a programme?
Does the drum turn during the wash cycle?
Can you post the full E-Nr number of the appliance from the label in the door recess?

OK, sorry to hear you can't do the work yourself.
It would be a bit of a gamble getting an engineer in.
I've advised on the most common cause, which would be the lowest cost of the repair.
However, it could be one of several things and a lot of the parts may well be obsolete now.
Engineer labour charge plus carbons would likely be around the £100 mark.
A programmer, if still available will take this price to around the £200 mark.
If it can't be repaired, you're still down around £60.
After repair, everything else is still 14 years old.
Sorry, I would have to suggest replace rather than repair.
Use the potential cost of repair against the cost of replacing the machine.
