Hi, I have a Hotpoint WML...

Hi,

I have a Hotpoint WML 560 washing machine. When I set it to wash, the door locks, the amber wash light comes on, but nothing happens.
After about 5 mins the amber wash light starts flashing slowly.
After about a further 5mins the 4 lights along the bottom start flashing rapidly, and the pump starts pumping out. Any ideas?

Hiya,

When the lights across the bottom flash, look at the lights going up the right side.

Number them with 1 at the bottom.

Which numbers are flashing or are on?

Hi,

Start/Pause (bottom right) flashes rapidly, red key light (next light up) is on all the time, all the others are not lit.

Hiya,

OK, the lock light is number 1 so that one is indicating the fault code.

That comes out as error code F01 - Motor triac short circuit: Check motor and module connections

The motor triac is on the main control board.

Check the wiring at the motor, check the wiring and plugs at the main control board.

See what you find. let me know.

If it's all looking ok, it would suggest you need to have the main control board replaced and programmed to the appliance.

Hi,

Sorry its taken a while to get back.

There are six triacs mounted on a central heat sink on the control board. Does your documentation show which one(s) control the motor, and do you have a specification for the triac?

Hiya,

No, sorry, the service manual don't go to component level as the boards are not made by Hotpoint.

The service manuals only advise on changing and programming the board.

There is a company that does component level repair on the boards, www.emwelec.co.uk
