I have a Zanussi FLE...

I have a Zanussi FLE 1215W.
Occasionally it give a sound like interferance on a digital tele, Gives a bang as if the washing is out of balance when its just starting the spin cycle, sometimes the machine moves across the floor out from under the worktop.
Then sometimes the machine will continue the cycle correctly. Other times it stalls on the program, with the three lights mentioned in the owners manual page 18 (Something Not Working) illuminated and the pause light flashing.
When this occurs I have to reprogram it to rinse and spin then it will complete the cycle.

Ok lets see what the error code is. To do this you need to turn the washer off.

Then press and hold the start button and the reset button

With them pressed in turn the washer on

Keep the buttons held in till the leds start to scroll down then let go.

Now press the fabrics button till the 40 deg led is lit.

Now look at the row of lights going down the right hand side and number them going down with 1 at the top.

Let me know which lights are lit up.

Then just turn the washer off then on then back off again.

Light on are flashing
2 is green
4 is green
7 is orange.
Gill says that she has never seen an orange light in this area before.

Ok thanks for that them lights flasing is an E52 error code.

What this is is usually a motor problem. What you can try is take the motor out and look at the back of it. In the middle you will the tacho. It will have 2 thin wires going to it. Make sure this is fitted in correctly. If its loose then make sure the magnet is screwed in tight behind the tacho and then make sure the tacho is fitted correctly aswell.

Then retry the washer and see what happens. If still the same then its more then likley going to be a faulty motor im afraid.

Tried that. Eased the Tacho out and found the magnet was slightly loose.
Carefully tightened by holding the pulley and tightening the magnet with my fingers.
Will that be sufficient or can I use a tool on the magnet?
Tried the machine on a wash cycle, it stopped during the rinse phase of the cycle.
The machine did not make the noises that I originally described in my initial question.
Turning of the machine at the control panel did not allow us to clear as the reset button had no effect. We had to turn off the power at the wall socket to be able to clear the existing program and to reprogram the machine to rinse and spin only. The machine completed the cycle and stop correctly.
After emptying the washing we followed your previous directions to read the fault code.
the same lights came up. Should we do anything to clear the previous error reading or will it automatically clear once the fault is rectified.
How do you interprete the lights 2, 4 and 7 as error code E52 please.

We could not reset the machine to continue as the skip button would not work. We turned off the machine at the wall socket then turned back on. We were then able to skip through to rinses to complete the wash.
The wash then completed correctly.
After removing the washing we followed you previous insstructions to find the fault code.
It came up with the same as before, 2, 4 and 7.
Should we be doing anything to clear previous error codes or do they clear automatically when the fault has been rectified.
How do you interpret the lights on as error code E52 please.
Sorry you've received this twice, the website said there was a problem so I retyped it all, then found my previous note had gon through.

Sorry for the delay in getting to your question i was late comming back home.

Anyway as to the motor tacho the magnet is just finger tight thats all you can do.

If its still not right then you will proberly find the motor is the problem here.

Please see the previous correspondance before reading this note.
We have bought and fitted a new motor as you recommended.
The first wash with the new motor seemed to go fine.
The machine seemed to perform better than before, But as we haven't sat and watched the machine until it started to malfunction this is only a feeling rather than a definite fact.
The second load, carried out this morning, did not complete successfully.
The machine washed and rinsed OK but appeared to stall whilst trying to drain, prior to going onto final spin, as if the drain was blocked.
My wife did find some lumps chalk in the filter.
My wife turned the machine off at this point as she had to go out.
When she returned she turned the machine back on and with no further action from her the machine completed the cycle and stopped correctly.
As she had found chalk earlier my wife carried out a 90 deg C wash with no washing, no soap powder just washing soda. She went out again after 90 minutes leaving the machine running. She returned 45 minutes later to find that the machine had stopped with the pause light flashing and 3 lights alight on the right hand side. (lights 3,5 and 8, that is the rinse, spin and programme end lights).
The only way she could make the machine do anything was to turn the machine off on the front panel. This then allowed her to reprogram the machine to drain the water out.
My wife carried out the procedure to display the fault code as you instructed us earlier.
The lights up were 2, 4 and 7. Error code E52.
Are we just very unlucky and been sold a faulty motor or, refering to a previous question I asked but you did not answer, should we carry out a procedure to clear the previous fault code now that we have fitted a new motor?
Are there any other thing we should check out?

Sorry for the delay i've been offline for a few days.

Any way as to the fault you dont need to reset the error code on the board to get it running again. If the washer picks up a new error it will just replace the prev error code with the new code.

As you still have the E52 error code then its prberely a faulty control board but this is quite strange as usually if the board is at fault it will give either the E51 or E53 error code. But if its a new motor and the wiring to it is ok then it just leaves the control board on the side im afraid.

If I get a new control board, is it something I can fit myself without specialist equipment?
I have read somewhere that they come without software and need to be programmed before the machine will function. Is this true?
Having analysed all that my wife has told me about how the machine behaves when it malfunctions. It seems to be behaving slightly differently with the new motor.
I am thinking that it is not a constant fault.
It seems to get to a point where it is waiting for a signal that it has drained down before advancing to the next phase of the program.
This has made me think about the pressure switches, in particular the analogic pressure switch.
I presume from the name that this is not a switch but a pressure transmitter sending an analog signal to the control board. Am I correct?
How can I test this device to rule it out?
I have a digital multi-meter and a set of lungs to provide air pressure.

Ok as to fitting the new board then some you need to program useing a code and others need a computer to program it. But looking at your model it doesnt show a configaration code for it which suggest it will need to be programmed with a computer im afraid. Unless the code is on a sticker on the board

But as to the analogic pressure switch when this go wrong you will get an E34 error code which is ligths 3,4 and 6 this is usually the analogic pressure switch.

If you are quite handy and repairs and with a multimeter i will upload the service manual for you. Then you can have a good read of that and have a play.

This is the level of information that I am used to consulting in my work as an electrical engineer in a manufacturing company where I am resposible for PLC controls of complex machines and processes.
I cannot find the live accept button, the one above is not operational.

Hi.
I am still having problems.
Since I last wrote to you I have purchased and fitted a new pressure switch and a new analog pressure sensor as they weren't particularly expensive.
I am getting close to having a new machine!!!!
Having read the manual you sent and sat for hours watching the machine running we have found that the cycle always stops after the second rinse. It starts to drain the second rinse away but part the way through draining the pump turn off leaving the drum partially full of water.
If at this point, we turn the machine off on the control panel, then turn it on again, the machine will then drain down completely and proceed with the third, fabric conditioner, cycle. Then it will continue with no further interruption to complete the wash program.
If we don't stop and start the machine at this time it will time out and we have to restart and skip though to the start of the rinses phase of the program. If we have to do this it will complete all 3 rinse cycles and the final spin with no futher actions by us.
Reading the manual you sent, I am considering re-configuring the installed main control board myself, I have the config code, it is on a label on the board.
Do you think this is a wise move or are there pitfalls to this action.

Ok as to the pressure switch like i said when these go wrong you get another error code they dont cause an E52 code.

You can try and reconfiquire the board as the code will be on that sticker so if you do it right it wont cause any harm as these boards can be reprogarmmed as many times as you like.

But as the motor has been replaced this sounds like the control board is the problem if the wiring is fine.
