Candy GOF 462 Washing Machine. My machine appears to be washing…

Candy GOF 462 Washing Machine...

Candy GOF 462 Washing Machine. My machine appears to be washing but is not draining or spinning at the end of the cycle. I have cleared the sink trap and also manually drained the machine (messy but effective)! Machine works fine empty but not with a load in? Please help my washing is piling up.

Have you checked the filter at the bottom?

Also is it draining the water out now or leaveing in there still?

Hi There, Thanks for your reply. I have checked the filter which after gushing water all over me...appears to be fine. Nope not draining now. It worked fine when it was empty but as soon as I tried a load ..... washing but not draining or spinning. I have left it where it stopped with a load (only a small one) in and full of water :(

Ok if you set it to a spin only cycle listen carefully at the filter do you hear a humming noise from it?

Hi Yes it still makes a noise but no spin. The noise isnt like the spin noise those just as if it is functioning so I guess you could call it a hum

Ok the humming noise sounds like the pump is blocked so the impeller cannot spin round.

What you need to do is take the filter out again but this time look inside there at the back were the filter goes you will see the pump impeller X shape.

Make sure theres nothing jammed in there stopping the impeller from turning.

Once its free test it byt turning the impeller it should ping round in stages. If its stiff to turn the pump will need to be replaced.

Then retry the washer and see how it goes from there.

Good Morning, many thanks. It turned out that the waste pipe was blocked. I checked the impeller thingy and it seemed fine so dismantled the waste from the machine and drained it out, as a very last resort I checked the tube that the waste fixes onto (had only checked the sink waste previously, durr!) and ......bingo! Full of goo ..... nice! Working like a dream now. Many Thanks Louise.
