just to confirm, the conditioner is watered down and not as you poured it into the compartment?

In this case you have a problem with the syphon.
Royzee :
This is there to contain the liquid in the compartment till the correct time. Water enters from above and it syphons out the tray through the tube.
Royzee :
We know water is entering the tray as the conditioner is watered down, therefore it has to be the syphon.
Royzee :
There are two types that have been fitted. The first is a small tube clipped in the back of the compartment. Remove the syphon. Make sure it and the tray are thoroughly cleaned, refit and push syphon firmly down.
Royzee :
The other type has a lid that covers the compartment. Remove the lid and you will see the syphon tube. Again clean this and the lid thoroughly. Refit and push lid down firmly.

The syphon tube is not blocked. I already removed the plastic cover, and water poured directly into the tube comes straight out of the back of the tray, and water poured into the back of the tray comes straight out of the syphon tube. I also cleaned the lid. Also, with the lid in place, if i pour water from the tap into the conditioner tray it syphons through and drains quite happily.

OK, well if the water is entering the compartment, which it is because you sais the conditioner was watered doown, and you now have the syphon tube working, it must take the conditioner.

It is true that this type of system is not infallible and on an odd occasion may not work, but all machines are made with this device

Is it possible that not enough water is entering the conditioner tray? It seems to be only just over half full, not full to the top.

its ulikely. Much more likely it has enough water but stops syphoning part way through.
Royzee :
Next time, open the drawer slightly and see the water entering the conditioner compartment
