We have a Bosch dishwasher...

We have a Bosch dishwasher Enr. SGS45C02GB/06 bought in Oct 2008. So far we have had to have an engineer out 3 times for the same problem. Each time he has been unable to discover the cause of the fault. Yet again it is doing the following:

Not heating water
Not draining properly
When cycle finishes the display stops at '1' instead of 'O'

We have an identical machine, bought at exactly the same time, on another floor of the office which works perfectly. At a minimum of £85 per engineer's visit we could have bought a new machine. Any suggestions before calling out the engineer yet again?

If this is an intermittent fault then it is likely to be a loose connection.
Do you have access to and able to use a multimeter to carry out some checks.

Sorry - don't even know what a multimeter is! The same Bosch engineer has been out each time. Wouldn't he have checked this?

The reason I ask is I want you to do some checks so we don't have to call out the engineer.
The wiring loom from the main control board runs down through the door out the bottom and under the sump.
Where the wires turn under they have a tendency to break with thew constant opening and closing of the door.
We use a meter to check for breaks in the wires.
Another possibility is a dry joint on the main PCB. This is where the solder has taken very well and the contacts make and break.
The machine should report no heat in the form of error code or flashing light so you need to look for that the next time it fails.

I'm running it through empty at the moment to see if it heats & drains. Will look for an error message when it finishes and let you know.Does the machine heat up from cold water or take in hot from our supply?

It should be connected to a cold water supply.
Connecting to a hot water supply can have it's own problems so check which it is.

Have now run the dishwasher twice this morning on the normal cycle with no soap. First run it was cold, didn't drain fully and cycle stopped on '1'. Second run it finished on '0', water was steaming and had drained fully. Any suggestions for such an intermittent fault?

As I explained in an earlier post you need to check the wiring for a broken wire and check the module for a dry joint on the PCB.
Did any lights flash when it sopped at '1'.
