Whirlpool Dishwasher type ADP 2442...

Whirlpool Dishwasher type ADP 2442 WH - When I start a program the dishwasher don't seem to be able to take in water. It stops after a few minutes, and the start button flashes four times. How do I fix this?

Has the machine stopped full or empty of water?

Take out the filters and look into the sump.

On the right side of the sump bowl, is there a black grid?

Empty of water.

There is a black grid.

Hiya,

OK, thanks for that.

Clean out the black grid carefully.

Don't burst the membrane.

Once you've cleaned it out, pour in a kettle of boiling water, getting as much as possible into the black grid.

Try the machine on it's hottest wash.

Hey again.

Correction: There is a small amount water. It has filled the sump, and has just covered the grid.

Sorry about that.

Hiya,

OK, if you start a new programme, the drain pump should run first.

Does it?

Start the new programme, then cancel it.

Allow the drain pump to run.

Open the door.

Is the machine empty?

(There will be some water in the sump).
