Look on the rating plate on the inside of the door for the service number corresponding to your model.

OK that confirms that the part number has been changed to the new number you have given me.
Whirlpool say this is indeed a modified switch.
It would normally come with an instruction sheet.
If not we will have to work this out.

Yes, I'm just trying to decipher the intruction sheet.
The switch will be a double pole single throw switch so this means it will switch on both the live and neutral.

Can you confirm that your timer is represented in the info sheet. My data sheets says that you dryer is fitted with EC4605.

the timers on the sheet are EC4521 and EC4595

On the sheet for EC4595 the key box for the wiring configuration shows the connections on the timer.
They are A1 A10 B5 and son on. Check on your timer that you have these positions.

So do the markings on the cables correspond with what is written on the info sheet.
When you look at what is written on your timer, are thay the same as the ones on your info sheet.

No to both those questions-the info sheet wire numbers do not correspond with my existing wires and there is no reference to markings on the timer. my timer does not have any markings that correspond to the existing wire markings.

I'm out of ideas at this point because it would appear that your timer configuration is different than that shown on your info sheet.
If you have a multimeter you should be able to decipher what the connections of the old switch are and transpose that information to the new one. The switch itself is not that complicated. It is push to start and push to off. Use your meter to determine what part of the switch makes and breaks with a push of the switch.
Other than that I can't really help any further.
If I opt out another expert will probably step in and try and help.

OK-the problem is the switch is broken so i cant test it and the sheet is useless. very frustrating-dont seem to be getting any where

If you have a meter why not bell out the new meter so you can work out what the terminals do.

The new switch has 2 microswitches.
You need to check the bottom one if it has 3 terminals.
In one postion it will be closed circuit when the door is open.
You want to use the 2 terminals that go closed circuit when the door is closed.
The two wires with the green coloured ends go to the start switch.
The two other wires go to the door switch.
The extra wires are for an older machine that needs some wiring changed and timer rewiring to get the appliance working again.
