Zanussi Z19454 Fridge/Freezer, Fridge temp...

Zanussi Z19454 Fridge/Freezer, Fridge temp displaying the letter "P" internal illumination lights stop working, can only get them to work by turning mains off/on, but this is only short lived. Freezer appears to be working ok. Fridge appears to be cold, so not sure if there is a fault or not.

Hiya,

I think the model number is XXXXX

If it is, the service manual states;

If the display shows the letter P, it means that one or more electronic boards are faulty in writing/reading the Eeprom parameters and the appliance cannot operate.

To solve the problem, it is necessary to replace the electronic boards (power and display).

From what you've posted it would appear the software on the Eeprom is corrupt and is affecting the internal lights.

Sorry it's not good news or an easy fix.

You could run the appliance as is, without internal light, and hope it doesn't fail or you could have the boards replaced to try and cure the problem.

Are you referring to the two control boards under the temp display panel?

Do they operate independantly of each other?

The reason I ask is that the freezer temp display and controls are working fine. I am of course trying to narrow down the fault.

Could you supply the part numbers for the boards and or let me know where I could purchase the service manual.

The information off the Product label inside the fridge is as follows:-

Sorry, you need to prefix the product number with A.

It has appeared as XXXXXXXXX

Once I have this, I'll have a look at the service manual.

Zanussi don't sell the service manuals to the public I'm afraid.

I can tell you that the manuals don't go down to component level repair.

They will only tell you the likely cause and the probable parts to change.

Thanks for that.

The PNC indicates you have the later, 4 door, model.

I've just gone through the service manual, twice, but there is no mention of an alarm "P" for your machine.

Sorry, I've given you the reason from an earlier 2 door model (same model number)

As there is no mention of the fault you are having in any of the service information for this machine, I'm afraid I can't help you on this.

Although it's likely the same explanation will apply, I'll have to opt out and open the question to all experts again.

See if anyone has come across the fault on your particular machine.
