There are a few variations of this appliance, some have time display and one doesn't.

Press and hold the buttons as previously advised.

Look at the start light.

Count the number of red flashes and let me know how many.

Count the number of green flashes and let me know how many.

E21 is the error code.

This indicates a failure to drain and this is the last recorded error.

Turn the knob to the off position.

Press and hold the 2 buttons again.

While holding them, turn the dial 1 notch clockwise.

The leds should flash, release the buttons.

The leds should now be scrolling.

If they are, turn the knob slowly through each position clockwise until you get to off again.

Then turn to any programme.

Turn back to off.

Try the machine again.

Let me know what happens.

Thanks for that.

Not so good news I'm afraid.

Your machine is giving an E54 fault which indicates the motor relay contacts are sticking.

This would suggest that the main control board is faulty.

It can also be a fault on the motor that has caused it.

Reset the control board again.

You have to get the leds scrolling.

Once they are scrolling just go clockwise through each position to off.

Then, turn on, turn off and turn on again.

I would suggest getting a quote for repair from www.repaircare.co.uk

Their price includes parts and labour.

As the fault could be (worst case) a motor and a control board this would be by far the most economical repair.

Once you have their quote you'll be better placed to decide on repair or replace.

i know when my own machine fails (I've got a Candy and am not impressed with it) I'm going to order my next machine from XXXXX XXXXX.

Their own brand machine (starts at £299) is made by Electrolux and has a 3 year parts and labour warranty.

(Electrolux own the Zanussi brand name too).

If I had Zanussi and it was under 5 years old, I'd be having it repaired.

Your local repairer would be around the £85 plus vat mark for labour alone.

Sorry it's not good news.

It may be worthwhile checking the carbon brushes in the motor to see if they have worn down (pretty unlikely given the description of the fault).
