OK, thanks for that.

We first need to get the door open.

Unplug the appliance from the socket and wait 5 minutes.

While it's unplugged, try opening the door.

Let me know what happens.

Is the door handle loose and floppy compared to how it normally was?

OK, thanks for that.

Keep the machine unplugged.

Give the front panel, next to the handle, a few hefty thumps.

Not too hard that you dent the panel but enough to try and jar the bi-metal strip in the lock loose.

If that fails, take the top of the machine off, reach down inside and try to unlatch it from inside (this doesn't work very often).

If that still fails you can either, work the lock side to side, back and forth until the lock comes off of it's screws, or, simply protect the paintwork and lever the door open.

You may need to replace the door latch as well as the lock to repair this part of the appliance.

While the top is off, check the printed circuit boards at the top front of the machine for any obvious damage.

Sorry for the delay, my wife dragged me out for some Christmas shopping.

You need to check the printed circuit board in the facia and the power circuit board just behind it.

If they are obviously damaged they will need replacing for sure.

Check the door seal, see if there is a hole in the seal that has allowed water onto the door lock.

Unfortunately it's now a case of replacing parts to see if the fault can be cured.

The door lock is obviously faulty, this needs to be replaced.

The power board and/or the display board may also be faulty.

Do you have, and can you use, a multimeter?
