I have a hotpoint aquarius WD420G and it is only two years old and hardly used. Every time I do a program it goes into Timesaver mode and seems to lock out preventing me from completing the program and doing a final spin.Answer Summary
Hiya,When you try to use it do any of the lights down the side of the dispenser flash?If they do, number them with 1 at the top and let me know which numbers flash. If these are all ok, change the main control board. Either item is going to be expensive to replace and if both are faulty then the cost of a diy repair makes it more expensive than a new appliance. The light flashing is indicating an error code I'm afraid.
Light 4 indicates a motor triac fault.
The triac is part of the main control board.
The service manual suggests the following.
Check the motor for continuity and check the wiring to the motor.
Check the motor plug (often J9) on the main control board and check the wiring there too.
If these are all ok, change the main control board.
There is a chance that the motor is faulty on it's spin windings and may have damaged the control board.
Either item is going to be expensive to replace and if both are faulty then the cost of a diy repair makes it more expensive than a new appliance.
However, if you call Hotpoint, they will come out, repair the appliance, inclusive of parts and labour, for a set fee.
You would need to call them to check on the various schemes they have to offer.
Before calling them, unplug the appliance and take the rear panel off.
The main control board is bottom left when viewed from the rear.
Check the motor and the wiring at the motor and control board.
