Helo we have a Hotpoint...

Helo we have a Hotpoint Aquarius240 WF1400 spin. When the drum is turning slowly things are fine but when the machine trys to up its speed we get a grinding/ heavy clicking noise almost like a gear is slippingcould you help us identify the problem and hopefully remedy it please.

If you turn the drum by hand do you hear a rumbling noise?

If you hold the bottom of thye metal drum inside can you lift it up and down a bit?

Also does it still spin ok?

No it doesnt, I dont think its the bearing as I know how to check for that problem

Ok if the bearings feel ok then what you need to do is take the top off and just check the bolts on the concrete weight. Make sure they are all tight and the weight isnt loose.

If thats fine then you need to check to see if theres something stuck inside the drum.

Open the door and grab hold of 1 of the drum paddles inside and pull it towards you. The paddle will then come out and you can then see inside the drum and check to see if theres anything in there.

If that looks fine then take off the back and take off the belt. Then run it and see if it makes the noise then. If it does then its the motor which is at fault. If it doesnt and the weights are ok then its sounds like it could be a problem with the drum itself.

it sounds more like plastic teeth slipping or not engaging and does not increase in tempo as machine spins just a constant clicking grinding noise

Were abouts does the noise seem to come from?

As there are no gears or cogs inside the machine which break or slip.
