the start light on my dishwasher is flashing and the machine isnt starting. i cant find the manual...can u advise me please. Whirlpool adp 4501/5

Hiya,

OK, thanks for that.

7 flashes indicates a flow meter failure.

Unplug the appliance and take the top (if it's an integrated version you will need to take the appliance out from it's built in position, there will be no top on it) and the left side panel.

Facing the left panel, at the bottom of the plastic tank will be a 2 wire plug that goes onto a tiny circuit board.

Take the plug off of the circuit board, taking care not to pull the circuit board out.

Clean the contacts of the circuit board with a pencil eraser, clean the plug contacts, tighten the plug a little then plug it back on.

Try the machine again.

If this doesn't cure the fault then you would have to check the wiring back to the main control board first and if ok, begin replacing parts. The first thing to change is the metering tank (large plastic tank on the side) and then the main control board.

99% of the time it's just dirty contacts on the plug.

Please take care when working on the appliance, the metal edges are razor sharp when exposed.
