it does not make any difference which programme is selected
nothing happens the green light normally stays on and the machine normally starts but the green light is flashing and the machine does not start
four rapid flashs then a pause four flashs repeats

OK, thanks for that.

Unfortunately your reply isn't too clear on what you do and what happens.

Press and hold the start button till the light goes out.

Select a wash programme.

Press start and close the door.

Exactly what happens?

Does the 1st part work?

Can you select the programme?

Does the start light come on?

What happens when you close the door?

when i pressed and held the start button it went out i then switched the machine off then back on and when i pressed the start button the light stays on but the machine does not start the normal wash programme is selected the door was closed all this time

no noise the light started flashing again after about three mins

Four flashes indicates a drainage failure.

Is the machine full or empty of water?

the machine is empty of water the only water in it is in the salt container and thebelow the filter

Hiya,

OK, thanks for that.

As the appliance is making no noise whatsoever and then giving an error code of 4 flashes I would suspect that you may have a problem with the main control board.

This drives every component on the appliance.

I'm going to opt out of the question and open it to all experts again as I don't believe this fault can be accurately diagnosed remotely.

It really needs an engineer to come in, attach the test equipment and check the electronics.
