Is it leaving the softener in the drawer?
if so pull drawer out and look above were the softener tray is you will see a hole
poke some garden wire through it to clean it then retry it. This should sort it out.
As all it will be is a blockage in the drawer or dispencor unit.

If the fill valve is faulty what you will find is that the machine will stick on cycle and not rinse.
If it goes through ok and does a spin it will be blocked in the roof of the dispencor unit.
If you have tried cleaning the holes and it still does it the the lid will need replaceing
I come across this problem alot and most of the time cleaning the holes sorts it out
on some i did need to replace the lid to fix it.
Is it leaving softener in or is it water?
