Hi, I have a Whirlpool ADP 5442 dishwasher and since yesterday, towards the end of a wash the on and off button is blinking plus only the upper light on the left hand side (where you choose the type of wash) is on. It doesn't do anything else... What does this mean?4Answer Summary

4 flashes translates to a drainage failure.
If the machine has actually drained, it doesn't acknowledge this.
The normal cause of this failure is the pressure switch located in the right hand side of the sump.
If you remove the fine filters below the bottom spray arm and look into the sump you'll see a black grid at approx the 3 o'clock position. If it looks grubby or has fatty deposits in it, this will be enough to cause your problem.
Try pouring a kettle of boiling water into it to disolve the deposits. If this doesn't work then it will require replacing.
