After using the channel...

After using the channel guide on the set instead of the remote, I cannot reach any channel. I have tried to remedy this with the instruction booklet, but not succeeded. Can you please advise me?

It is a Sony Bravia LCD Digital TV, model KDL-26M4000

Technician's Assistant: How old is your Bravia?

About 4 years old

Technician's Assistant: Does the TV menu work? Do you have the same problem on all sources/inputs?

The menu works with the remote, but the remote now only turns the set on and off.

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been an issue with your Bravia? What happened right before this?

This happened one day ago, when the remote batteries seemed to be used and I tried to get a channel by changing the channel on the top of the set.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the TV Expert to know before I connect you?

That's all: I have had no other problem with the TV. Let me add that once before I used the set channel button and had a similar problem. I don't remember how I remedied it.
