O.k then you are simply on the wrong input

Look on the tv`s remote for the INPUT (or SOURCE ) button then press it repeatedly to go through the various inputs until you get to your cable/satellite box or select that input from the input list once opened if you know which one it is , typically HDMI 1 for example.

I`m going out for the night , find that input button on the remote and select hdmi 1 in the input list , if not there try them all , you are simply on the wrong input

Do not open the menu its not in there
