The screen goes dark, maybe back light? does this intermitintently

Technician's Assistant: Are there any HDMI cables or A/V jacks (red, yellow, and white cables) plugged into your TV?

Yes, cable and blue ray player. have switched them, still does it. sometimes logging into netfix and exiting fixes it, sometimes it returns to normal brightness by itself.

Technician's Assistant: Was there a power outage recently?

No. it has been doing it on and off for a couple of months

To rule out any satellite or cable box issue you are sure this IS happening with other inputs like a blu-ray or dvd player for example?
