I have a rear...

I have a rear projection Samsung TV that cuts off after about an hour of viewing and then cuts more frequently after that. I understand there is a relatively simple fix.

Technician's Assistant: What Samsung model do you have? How old is it?

I will go look. One moment please.

Technician's Assistant: Does the TV menu work? Do you have the same problem on all sources/inputs?

Model: HL S6 187WX/XAA Serial No. 819L3CKP104787J Version: PF03. I have not checked the TV menu or tried other sources/inputs.

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been an issue with your Samsung? What happened right before this?

The condition has been present for a couple of months. We only watch that TV about once per week. There was no event preceding the problem.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the TV Expert to know before I connect you?

That is the most likely problem, the lamp reaching the end of its life will start overheating and having this type of issue.

Lamps are a normal wear/maintenance item on these tvs, and typically need to be replaced every 2-3 years, so if you've never replaced it on an 11 year old tv that is pretty amazing life. You can order a new lamp here: http://amzn.to/2jz5524

There is a lamp compartment on the back of the tv that opens to access and replace the lamp cartridge.
