Hello and thank you for your question. I look forward to assisting you today. Can you tell me please how you have it connected to your TV?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
It is not connected at all right now to the TV. It was connected to the HDMI and my HDMI does not work with the system. However I took another television out a smaller version and it worked with that
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
By the way. The hdmi does not work on the that tv
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Has the HDMI ever worked on the larger TV?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
the hdmi works now, that is how i view my cable tv
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay, but it will not work with the security system then is that correct?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
That is correct
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Can you give me the make and model of the TV please?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
The make is qsee the model is qth41
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

I need the make and model of the TV you are connecting the qsee into please.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No sure
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I am not at home now
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay. Well your Qsee has a video output resolution of 720P. If your TV is set higher than that, it will not detect the video signal coming from the Qsee. Try changing the video resolution of the TV down to 720P and see if that produces video from your system then let me know how you come out.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
How do i change the resolution on the tv?
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Well I can't tell you without knowing the make and model.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Okay
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Just checking to see if you have located the make and model of your TV. Please let me know.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
The make of my TV is a Panasonic plasma hdtv
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay thank you. Do you know which model it is please?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I am not sure of the model
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay well we can give it a try. Using your original TV remote, is there a button marked Settings?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

How about a button marked input?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

When you press that is one of the selections that appears on the screen labeled PC?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Pc does not show up on the screen
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

How many HDMI ports do you have on your TV and how long is the cable you are using?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
There are 2 hdmi ports
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

How about the length of cable?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
About 3ft
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay. I presume you have tried connecting to both ports?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
i have
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Does your TV have any RCA connectors besides the HDMI?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No it does not
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Does it have any connectors besides the HDMI?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
A few, audio, something has an r beside it.
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Well without knowing your model for sure, your HDMI ports are most likely auto-detecting and should change to the resolution of the source that is connected to them. If I knew for sure what other type of connectors you had, I might be able find some way to convert the HDMI so you can view the Qsee on your TV.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I will do some checking and send you a message when i find out
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay sounds good.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
The only other ports i see is LAN, digital audio out, hdmi 1 hdmi2
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I can give you a model number
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Okay what?
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay with the model number.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
The model number is *****
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay, let me do some checking and I will let you know.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Okay, thank you
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Try pressing the Format button on your remote while your Qsee is connected to see if it will detect the input. You may need to press it several times before you see any video.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
It goes from Xoom, too. Feel, II just, 24 semicolon 3 and then it says no signal ensure that the external device is turned on and properly connected to the TV's input select The Source by pressing input on the remote
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Check the attachment. It might explain it better.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
When I went through the format I did not get the 1080P or the 1080 or the 7:20 comma I just got the fill, just, 4:3, and full
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay, well it is apparently not detecting video from the Qsee. I did find that your TV has RCA ports located on the rear. The one for video should be colored yellow.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
It is still giving me that error message about ensuring that the external device is turned on
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Is there video coming out of the Qsee port?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I am not getting video at all
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

What I meant was can you verify you have video coming out of the Qsee?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
How can i do that.
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Do you have another TV with an HDMI port?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
we tried that and it works on that tv
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
We are looking into getting another monitor and using that as well.
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Okay, well I think your only option left with this TV then is to use the RCA port on the back rather than the HDMI port. To do that, you would need a converter.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Ok, thanks
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

My pleasure! Please remember to rate my service and have a nice day!

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I have found the problem, the dvr is not reconizing the hard drive. Why is that
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Can you explain in more detail please? If that were the case it would still that would only effect the recorded video. Live video would not be effected.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Okay we used another monitor which we are now getting video from that monitor. We were not getting a video from the television so we hooked it up to a totally different monitor. Now we are showing an image however there is no recorded video I can see what's happening outside but I cannot or it will not record we cannot get the system to record
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

Does it give you any errors when you try to record?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No it does not give any errors at all
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

How do you have your recording setup? Manual, motion, etc?

Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

You need to go into the Record Configuration and select each individual camera you want to record if you haven't done that yet?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Each camera has been configured I have cameras two and three that has been configure so yes I have done that I do believe that the problem is the hard drive is not recognizing the system at all
Expert:  Dan replied 4 months ago.

I would suspect the operating system loads from the hard drive. If the drive had failed, I wouldn't think there would be any operation at all?
