We have direct tv with our Vito , it's worked perfect for over two years now it won't let us program channel 4 in for our analog
JA: What's the make and model of your tv, and can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: Full he 1080p
JA: Does the TV menu work? Do you have the same problem on all sources/inputs?
Customer: Model no e 371 vl
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Yes the menu I go in and go to settings and hit tuner to go to antenna or cable
JA: Anything else you want the TV expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: The issue started just befor NY when our oldenst was home he said I might have to go to factory setting ugh I'm useless

my direct tv will come on like it used to instead of having to go to tuner and then switch between antenna and cable I get my locals on antenna , my husband has beginning Alztimers and he can't remember these steps since it happened right before Ny

Thats okay, just wanted to confirm the connection. Typically you'd use hdmi here, but I understand if you want to have dtv on 4 and the other channels accessed on the antenna via the same input mode. He will still have to remember to change over to the dtv remote to change satellite channels though.

You'll need the vizio on the TV/air input mode (not hdmi, etc)

then go into the vizio menu, and under the Channels section, then Auto Scan (program) and it should load the dtv up on channel 4 (make sure the box is on).

Well under settings you go to TUNER, it should be on AIR (not cable) mode, then you can choose the Auto Channel Search

Well if it shows even 1 analog you're fine, one of them is the box.

It is a slow process but should get you there.

It may be having trouble finding them with the box on. You can try scanning again with the box off.

Air is the same thing as antenna.

Only if I have it on antenna , still won't let me get to 4 without going to tuner and turn to cable as before

Okay that is a conflict with the box itself, your model satellite is outputting a digital modulated signal.

What that means is that you can't use both together, you have to pick one or the other, so you'd use antenna on tuner, and you won't have any other choice but to use a different connection via hdmi.

This is simply a limitation of the tvs capabilities. My apologies for the news.

CEC has nothing at all to do with this, cec is a hdmi control protocol and would not affect the tuner.

It is quite possible that your box was update automatically with new software though that changed this.

You can also look in your box settings if it has a cable/air switching options.

That is more likely, yes. This is too old/basic of a tv to have had any updates of its own take place, though it could be a hardware defect with the internal tuner.

A hardware failure would not be at all surprising to see, your tv has lasted about 4 times what we'd expect from a vizio set.

A box adjustment may be possible, as mentioned, by looking for an air or cable mode within the box settings.

Beyond that, you can still use the systems, you just have to switch to a different connection such as hdmi.

Can you please look in the satellite box menu. I can't tell you exactly where that is because there are so many different versions,

but it will be called tv out or RF out typically.

That is an unrelated setting as well.

There should be some option for this, you can call directv, you could call directv and ask them, or even ask them to provide a new box.

Otherwise your best option here (and really the best option altogether) is to use the separate connections that I mentioned meaning to go to hdmi for the box.

The Direct tv guy was here and fixed it, so he also couldn't say what really happened , but he ran a new cable bypassing using the tv direct for locals ,so truthfully I don't know what we accomplished I am now paying 6 dollars more a month ☹️

It sounds like he updated you to a different box model, most likely so you could use the proper hdmi connections.

That is one option, you will get better quality picture/sound, and there are the added benefits that it simplifies everything to one input and remote, and to also have the ability to record those stations on the dvr like you do with the others.
