Customer Question

I have a Sony DLP. Recently I moved the TV to another location, but now the screen shows streaks of red and the sound has a buzz. Color seems to be green at times. Is it worth fixing?
JA: What's the make and model of your tv, and can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: Sony KDF-E42A10 Date is 2005
JA: Does the TV menu work? Do you have the same problem on all sources/inputs?
Customer: It says it is not available on this set.
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: I moved the TV to another room, before that all was well
JA: Anything else you want the TV expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

This is fairly obvious to me that you have broken connections internally and it would be difficult to say offhand if that buzz and the streaks coming out the LCD block are related but i can tell you that you will need a pro to investigate this .

The light engine will have to be pull out completely to check for possible loose or broken connectors or worse broken solder joints.

You can expect a $300 bill in average to have this done at home .

considering the age of the tv and the fact that you can get a new 50" tv (this one is 42")with all the bells and whistles for around or less than $450 ,I would think twice before investing that kind of money into this one.

I think your money would be better invested in a new tv .
