Hi, I'm Nathan.
Sorry to hear that you're having trouble, but I'll do my best to help you. Please give me a few moments to review your details here.

Your connections are likely just fine, but there is often a formatting issue,

first thing go into the sony settings menu under audio and look for an output format option, setting that to pcm/stereo.

You may also have to set the tv speakers to off or external/theater.

Make sure as well that the jbl is set to the proper (arc/tv or optical/dig) input mode.

If that doesn't work please let me know the full model of both the tv and the soundbar.
