I need to ask you for some more information here:

1) Any idea how old this set is? Can you get the model number off the back of the TV?

2) WHAT specific sources ARE connected to the set? (ex: Cable/SAT box, DVD, etc.)?

3) IF you use the original Samsung remote and pull up the MENU- do the shadows AFFECT the MENU as well?
