We ahve a Sony TV Model Number KDL-37, Model Number

Customer Question

We ahve a Sony TV Model Number KDL-37
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: Model Number KDL-37L5000, probably aobut 6 years old. Serial Number(###) ###-####
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I bought my wife an Amazon Stick to get Netflix, ect. I cannot change the input mode on the TV. I can only get TV or DVD. The other DVD slots or the HMDI ports are not available.
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: We have AT$T Uverse cable. When the input mode is on DVD we have cable. When it is switched to TV we get nothing. I tried to hool up our DVD Player and cannot get a signal because I cannot switch input modes. I checked the "Input Blockage" settings and all inputs are open. Also, I went to HMDI Devices and the TV recognizes the Amazon Fire Stick.

Hello,
I am the person that will be helping you today.

I see that the tv does recognize that the HDMI device is plugged into the tv. What you need to do is change the Input to the HDMI port that the Amazon stick is plugged into. Are you able to do that?

I will be standing by, looking forward to your response.

Thank you,
Jason

No, when I go tot he side of the TV to change input modes I can only do TV (which gives no signal) or DVD which is what the cable box is attached to. All other ports are off._

Do you also have the power cord plugged into the Amazon stick?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
No phone call
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 11 months ago.

That was an automatic offer. I don't make calls out, so you can ignore that.

Do you also have the power cord plugged into the Amazon stick?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
the power cord is plugged in. I cannot access the other input choices.
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 11 months ago.

You can access only the DVD & TV option.

Have you tried different hdmi ports? If not, please do so.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
We have 2 ports. I cannot access any other port except DVD and Antenna
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 11 months ago.

Okay, so you have plugged the stick into the other HDMI port, with no good results?

Is the Amazon stick new or used?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
New I just bought it. When i wen to the "HDMI Controller" on the TV menu, it was listed in HDMI2, where I put it. I am thinking of shutting off the cable box, disconnecting the DVD Cables from the TV and trying again.
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 11 months ago.

Try doing the following:
- While the stick is in the tv, unplug the power to the TV, plug it back in, and turn it on.

- Once it is back up, test it once more.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I already tried that.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I unplugged the TV for 5 minutes.

I have run out of ideas.

For this reason, I am opting out of the question and allowing another expert the chance to help.

The next expert will see all that is on this page, so there will be no need to repeat anything.

When another expert picks this up, you will be notified by email.

Thank you for your patience.

Thank you, ***** ***** it is the AT&T UVerse box connected tot he TV.
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 11 months ago.

Hello again,

May I ask what your last post means? Why do you think it's the Uverse box? The Amazon stick is plugged directly into the TV and bypasses the uverse box, correct?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I figured out the solution to the problem by myself. Thanks for nothing
