Our Remote broke, may we buy another?
JA: What's the model number of your TV? How old is it?
Customer: Um, hubby looking Theater 3D, model number M3D420SR
JA: Does the TV menu work? Do you have the same problem on all sources/inputs?
Customer: We can use the side buttons, they work fine.
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: We went to bed , woke up & it didn't work. This is the second one we have purchase after the original that came with the tv.
JA: Anything else you want the tv expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: We purchased tv on 12-19-08 but we don't remember when we bought the 2nd remote.

One thing though before getting a new remote it may be a good idea to test the one you have now .

Those Vizio are known for remote sensor problem.

Do you happen to have a cell phone camera , a tablet a digital camera etc. , any camera that has a display or screen to test the remote ?

Never mind the sensor ,as it turns out this model doesn`t seem to have that problem
