My LG tv is very dark on many shows and even with the sound

my LG tv is very dark on many shows and even with the sound up at 100% it is not loud enough, is there any adjustment I can make?
JA: Has this happened before? And have you tried unplugging your LG and leaving it off for a few hours?
Customer: no but I will try that.thank you
JA: Does the TV menu work? Do you have the same problem on all sources/inputs?
Customer: yes I have tried all settings in the menu, and it is the same on all inputs
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: we started noticing it about a year ago and it is only getting worse
JA: Anything else you want the tv expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: no, I will unplug it for a few hours today and see if that works

Can you tell me the full model number of the tv?

If you go into the LG menu screen, is that screen dim also, or brighter?

What are you watching? Cable/satellite? Dvd? Apps? Does it happen equally on all of them?

the picture in the background is dark, we have ATT service and it is the same on live tv and on recorded programs

the video played fine and the sound is good, it just seems to be on the live tv and programs recorded on the vcr

Thanks for checking. That usually indicates a cable box issue, can you please go unplug power to your ATT box for a few minutes, then replug power and give it a few more minutes to start back up, and let me know if that helps.

I unplugged the cable for half hour. I will watch some TV tonight and see if it is better and if I need more help will contact you tomorrow.
