Is the screen just blank with some background light or completely dark like when the tv is off ?
If you`re not sure then darken the room and turn the tv off and on again while you observe the screen .

Any message on the screen means the screen is lit and that is what I was asking

Pull the cable box power cord out for 20 secs and leave the tv on then see if anything show up on the screen while it reboots ?

O.k then you mean a dvd /vcr with coaxial out , in that case your tv needs to be set on channel 3 or 4 for that one and set to video input for the cable box and you need to have the yellow cable/plug connected in the GREEN video terminal that says Y , both on the tv and cable box

What you missed here is that yellow plug in the green terminal .

You dont happen to have a spare stereo cable do you ,or two extra rca cables like you have now ?

You could have a component connection with 5 cables and get a much better picture

There are HDMI 1 and 3 ports in the rear with red/yellow and white receptacles. There is an HDMI 2 port with r/y/w receptacles on the side. I have an extra white round cable. Where would it go. There is no other spot for it.
