Customer Question

Hello, I have a panasonic viera th-42PZ80U and I am having a problem where when I am using the television the screen will make a click and the picture will go black but the sound continues, but moments later the picture comes back. thsi problem has been persistent and happens every few minutes. I have removed the back panel and don't see any obvious damage to transistors or capacitors. Can you help me or is TV dead?

Expert:  Shahid replied 1 year ago.

Good afternoon.

Can you please locate the click sound area, does the click sound come from power supply board or one of board located on sides of TV?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
one moment let me try to find it
Expert:  Shahid replied 1 year ago.

Sure, take your time.

Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

Optimistic , yes and no , those switches , the one at the door are failing so much that sony stopped installing them in later models .

You`re gonna have to bypass it with a splice , are you up to that ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i can probably do that
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i have the tv powered up now, waiting for it to click. I am fairly sure its the same click that you hear every time you power up or down the tv
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
where can I find the wires that need to be spliced?
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

Sorry about that , no wires t splice here , this reply wasn`t meant to be here

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the click definitely appears to come from the power board. sounds exactly like when the TV turns on the first time
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.
