Can you please remove the power to the TV (so unplug it from the power socket).
Then remove the power to the DVD player
Then wait 10 minutes, connect the power again to the DVD player, and turn it on then power on the TV,and tell me please if it is now operating correctly.

Can you give me the make and model of the DVD player please?
ok, I would look though at doing a reset of the DVD player in case it was the HDMI port.
Normally customers do not have a spare cable so I work in that order.
