Menu board is faulty. Can I remove it and set the Insignia

Menu board is faulty.
Can I remove it and set the Insignia TV to operate using only the remote control?

I already disconnected the board.
The remote won't operate the TV

The volume was at peak and couldn't be changed and menu items continually flashed on the screen so I disconnected the board.

No it wont because the IR receiver is on the same board (function board) so you have to follow another route with it, in most cases the IR receiver for the remote is not on the same board but it looks like your out of luck and it is

So as long as the board is disconnected, so is the Infra red.
