Customer Question

Issue with Sony KDF50e3000
JA: Thanks. Can you give me any more details about your issue?
Customer: Replaced lamp no luck. Replaced ballast board. Appears that ballast board is not getting power. Checked resistor on G board beside ballast plug. Appears fine. Not sure what to do next.
JA: OK got it. Last thing — TV Technicians generally expect a deposit of about $18 to help with your type of question (you only pay if satisfied). Now I'm going to take you to a page to place a secure deposit with JustAnswer. Don't worry, this chat is saved. After that, we will finish helping you.

Still, proposed preliminary tries (if have not been done):

  • • re-check resistor values preferably out-of-circuit or even with just 1 leg lifted off the board - 3.3Ω/R6259, 4.7Ω/R6273, 0.47Ω/R6500, 0.1Ω/R6102, 470Ω/R6115, 22Ω/R6116 & R6117;
  • • does relay RY6001 engages;
  • • test for the presence of +319V @ pin 1 of connector CN6501.

A friendly reminder: voltage measurements by its very nature requires that the unit be plugged in, turned on and therefore LIVE! Please exercise due care and caution.
