Have a CTSG-2799C with a remote. Was used years ago to play

Customer Question

Have a CTSG-2799C with a remote. Was used years ago to play VHS exercise tapes. Has not been used for number of years. Has been unplugged the whole time. Started it up week ago & used it once & worked fine. Tried it two days later & could not get it to accept the tape & it does not even come on. Tried it with the remote & without the remote. Nothing! Have tried it at several different electrical outlets.
Any ideas?

Hi Vivian and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, is the Broksonic CTSG-2799C completely / electrically dead? ...or there is some indication of power and only that it would not fully turn on?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Seems to be electrically dead. No indication of power.

The described symptom almost always point to an internal hardware issue.

The above would require that the unit be opened up for visual inspection, voltage/continuity/resistance checks, confirm faults and effect repairs.

If comfortably able and feel safe to do so, are you then considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair approach (with guidance)? If yes, do you have access to and familiar with a multi-meter and even perhaps a soldering iron?

Can you recommend a repair shop in the Kansas area?
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.

Most certified TV repair shops would have a tech capable of repairs or at least can provide referral to.

Would a link; i.e. means to accessing a list to such a TV repair shop serve your need please?

Don't believe so. Thanks!

I understand.
