Hello , my name is Jack

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Hope you can help
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

Thanks ,we`ll see what can be done but i would have a few questions first ;
Can you see the str`s GUI/menu on the tv screen or the tv just says "no signal " or something of the sort ?

Even though you do not get the picture to follow onto the tv , do you get the sound from whatever is playing ?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Sound only from tuner ,no sound from sat , apple or blue ray
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Also tried new hdmi I cable
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

o.k then I take it that the menu does not show up on the tv screen either ?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Also have 2nd TV for trouble shooting
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

o.k but you said that everything was working when connected directly to the tv anyway so the tv is fine

Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

What happened , did it quit while watching it or simply would not come on today ?
Any electrical storm or power blackout in your area prior to this ?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It' new receiver , not sure how to pull up menu
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

The HOME button on the remote

Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

Did you say that it was working prior to this or is this a new install that never worked yet ?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
nothing happens when I hit the home button
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It was working yesterday
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

O.k then , I expected that .

For now just pull out the power cord 30 secs and try it again and if that does not work we`ll do a system reset

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Night mode ???
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

would not block the menu

Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

pull out the power cord

Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

Night mode is for listening at low volume , adjusts the EQ for low level

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Still nothing
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Is there anything on the remote that we could've touched to turn off the HDMI out
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

O.k then at this point this calls for a factory reset .

No , nothing will stop the menu anyway

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
What is a factory reset
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

Turn it off (standby) and then press and hold the power button 5 secs + , look at the display and it will say CLEARING and then switch to CLEARED , release the button and try it again

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ok
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

If that does not do it then I`m afraid that something went wrong with your receiver and that would call for a repair or exchange .

How long have you had it now ?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Still says no signal
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

O.k then sorry to hear that but right now the Sony is like right out of the box so there is no settings that would need to be changed , it is just like when you first installed it.

I`m afraid that it went defective

Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

If you had it for less than a month then you would be entitled to an exchange or refund

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ok that's what I thought ,thanks for your hel
Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.
