Panasonic TC-P42ST30 7 Blinks on the LED when I try to power

Customer Question

Panasonic TC-P42ST30
7 Blinks on the LED when I try to power it up.

For board diagnosis are they to be disconnected completely or just power from the PB?

Unplugging just the power(2pin from PB) from the SN board still gives 7 blinks.
Unplugging the ribbon and the power from SN gives 8(???) blinks.

Unplugging just power from SS board gives 7 blinks.

Service manual says SN board for 7 blinks.
So from this I assume the SN board (TNPA5349) needs replaced. Correct?
Any other advanced diagnostics I can do to make buying a new board less of a gamble?

Anthony's TV :

Hello Please BE aware This is tech information service. you are paying for the benefit of my real world experience and can save you time and money

Anthony's TV :

I have had many of these with bad plasma panals

Anthony's TV :

the 8 blinks says SS board

Anthony's TV :

7 Blinks says SY board

Anthony's TV :

so since both are giving you error

Anthony's TV :

it is possible the panal is blown

Anthony's TV :

the only way to know is to replace the SY and the Upper lower buffer

Anthony's TV :

and if they blow right away and they will if the panal is fried

Anthony's TV :

the tv is toast

Anthony's TV :

there have been alot of these i did under warranty that would have been $3000.00 repair

Customer :

so i shouldnt gamble on buying boards for this.

Customer :

is there a quick way to test the panel without buying new parts?

Customer :

and why would the blinks change with the ribbon unplugged form the sn?

Anthony's TV :

because the SN is no longer throwing the error

Anthony's TV :

the other board SS is

Anthony's TV :

and thats what worries me

Anthony's TV :

other than looking very close at the panal for a crack there is no way to test it

Anthony's TV :

and just becuase you dont see one doesnt mean there isnt one

Anthony's TV :

your codes show 2 failures why do boards fail at the same time?

Anthony's TV :

you are going to have to gamble at this point replace the SN (combo Y and buffer board) and see what happens

Customer :

i will leave this open for a few more days and do some shopping for boards. thanks for the help to this point.
