After I tried to replace the projector lamp and reinstalled my original, I am getting two blinking lights. Before I tried to replace the projector lamp, I was getting all three flashing lights. In addition, before trying to replace the lamp, the TV only tried to restart once after turning on before the lights started flashing. Now it's trying twice before flashing.

Sorry, I checked closely and all three lights are flashing.

I obtained the lamp and housing from Customer Service <[email protected]>, referred to in their order confirmation as eBay Lamp Distributor.

The site indicated it was original equipment, but perhaps that was not so. I am returning it but am being charged a restocking fee of 25%. Is there anything that I can do about that or am I out of luck? If I buy a bulb from your source and that's not the answer, will I again have to pay a restocking fee to return it?

I purchased a new bulb from dlplampsource as you suggested and I am still getting the same result, i.e., two subsequent attempts to turn on (with sound and no picture) followed by three flashing lights. What now?

No, as previoously indicated, with your assistance, I replaced the color wheel about a month ago and everything was working fine for about two weeks. There were no unusual sounds coming from it prior to this current incident.

It's hard to tell. When I first turn the set on I hear a click then there is some whirring, which sounds like fans or could be the color wheel. The sound also comes on so it's a little hard to tell what else is going on. I do not hear the fizz/click that you described and it's not clear that the color wheel is coming on (is there a way to differentiate the sound of the fans from the color wheel?). I again would note that after turning the set on, the sound remains on for about 30 seconds and then it shuts down and tries to restart twice before the three flashing lights come on in the front. I would also note that after the three lights are flashing for about one minute there is a click, which sounds like something is shutting off.

I don't think that the color wheel is starting up.

I did take the lamp out and I didn't see/hear the color wheel start up. I can't imagine what I could have done wrong other than that I have a bad color wheel. Do you think it's worth it to go back and check the installation of the color wheel?

I think it may be time to buy a new TV - any recommendations to replace my Samsung DLP?

Also, I suppose it's possible that the fan is not coming on either. Would I hear the sound from the TV if the fan wasn't working?

I think the fan is coming on. It's not loud, but there is a fan-like whir.

I did check all my work and everything looked fine. It's not at all clear to me why it could be my work if it worked for two weeks and then stopped. I should also note that during the whole start-up process, my remote is not able to turn the TV off (not sure if that matters). I would also note that when the problem first began, the TV just shut off while I was watching it. The TV also did not seemed to respond to the remote, i.e., volume would not change, etc. I unplugged the TV and tried to start it again and I did get a picture and the TV operated fine for several hours. After turning it off at night, it would not come back on in the morning (other tha as it now tries to start). Unplugging it and trying again no longer makes a difference. Not sure if any of this matters, but I thought I'd mention it.

1. After turning the set on, there is sound but no picture. This lasts for about thirty seconds and then the set turns off and tries to restart again. This same process happens again. After that the three lights on the front are flashing. I would note that before I tried to replace the projector lamp with a bulb from an eBay source, the set only tried to restart once before the flashing lights came on.

2. Yes, there was no movement of teh color wheel.

3. The remote operating problems occurred while the set was on. I could not turn the TV off with the remote. Nor would pushing the power button on the front turn the set off.

5. When the set was working, there was no degradation of color. In fact, the color appeared better and brighter.

6. Not since the color wheel was replaced.

To be clear, I did go back over all the work I did and all the leads are in properly and everything else is connected properly. I did have to remove the jumper when installing the color wheel in order to make the set work. I assumed that that was because the lamp has air bearings, unlike the original that had ball bearings.

So are you saying that I should return the color wheel and request a new one? If the color wheel is not the problem, will they honor my request?
