Hi

I'm afraid the TV man is right , its a failing light engine namely the DLP chip itself, these chips have thousands of micromirrors on and when they stick it just relects back the light from the lamp in the form of a dot

Depending on the strategy of the technician costs will be from$500-$800, it really depends on if the chip is replaced the light engine is replaced or re-built

Let me know if you need more info

do u think it is worth to replace this? or just buy a new one?

Hi

Sorry just lost my connection
Its your call a rebuild of the light engine would cure issue
You need though to consider the reliability of DLP which isnt great.
Having said that all technology is fickle you need as much warrenty as you can get with it

Let me know if I can do anything else

is it something I could do if I had the part or do I need a tv tech

Hi

Thats a good question it would depend on your level of ability and general "hands on" experience, its very difficult to replace the $200 chip without potentially damaging it, it may be possible for you to get the light engin in and out but you would need a service manual to help you do this, again the risk of damage by the untrained individual is high, some people have success however so only you will know......
