My 46 LCD TV has black lines flickering across the top 1/4

This answer was rated:

My 46" LCD TV has black lines flickering across the top 1/4 of the screen. This used to go on for around 3 hours before they disappeared. Today it went on for 10 hours, so it looks like I have to leave it on 24/7. Is it repairable and where can I get repaired. I live in a rural area. The TV was purchased from WalMart 3 years ago so the warranty has expired. Is it worth repairing or should I purchase another TV?

Hi. I'm Steve. I'm sorry to hear about your TV. I will try my best to give you a precise and accurate answer.

Does the flickering occur on the other inputs?

Does the flickering affect the on screen menus?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
Yes Steve, the flickering continues on my blue ray disk input and when I am displaying menus.
Ok, can you tell me the make and model of the TV please.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
Sanyo 46" LCD HD, model DP46848.

I don't have anything on that set.

Hold on.

I am very afraid I have no good news for you.

What you have is a LCD panel that has failed, this is a very common problem with these new LCD televisions and there is no way to fix it. The part price is always more than a new television. For example the part needed to fix your set is over $1600, you can buy a new set for half that price. Unfortunately there are a lot of good folks in your position, they have bought these nice sets, and after 18 months to 4 years the tv is going into the garbage unless they bought an extended warranty on it.

The only bit of advice I can give you if you don't have a warranty is to call Sanyo and complain to them, a lot of manufactures are working with their customers because these sets are failing so prematurely. A lot of times the manufacture will repair the set, or supply the part at no cost, leaving you with the labor for installation.

I am sorry I have no good news for you, please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
