Can you tell me what colour the Power and OPC lights are, how fast they are blinking, and how many times they blink?
Customer:
On switch on the power is green then immediately turns red and fluctuates between green and red at about 4 second intervals for approx 20 seconds, then the power light (red) blinks in conjunction with the opc green randomly.
Electronics Pete :
Do they blink at the same time together, or do they blink alternately?
Customer:
Mainly alternately, however, do occasionally flash together.
Electronics Pete :
How long have you had the TV?
Customer:
Approx 2.5 to 3 years.
Electronics Pete :
Is this the LC-46D64U model, or a different one?
Customer:
Its LC-42B20E model.
Electronics Pete :
The internal power supply units in all these Aquos TV sets have been giving a lot of problems across the range, and they usually fail after 2 or 3 years of use.
This is what your blinking Power and OPC lights are indicating.
Electronics Pete :
Although your TV set is out of warranty, it would still be worth contacting Sharp to see if they might send you a replacement power supply board to fit inside the TV to fix this fault.

If they don't send you one, you will have to purchase a replacement power supply unit for around £60-100
Electronics Pete :
If you have some experience in electronics, you should be able to fit this no problem.
Electronics Pete :
If not, then you will need to get an electronics or TV technician to fit it for you.
Customer:
Any idea of approx how much the fitting cost would be please.
