Hello my name is Eric,

Welcome to Just Answer

I can help you with this issue,

Just make sure you install the new fan in the correct direction.

I usually replace all the fans at once, if one goes bad the others may not be far behind it, but if you already ordered it, don't worry.

Specifically I need to know about taking the back cover off to access the colling fan. I assume you just remove the Phillips screws that are visible to remove the back cover, while keeping the monitor in a vertical position. From there can you access the fan unit? As far as i know there is only one cooling fan on this unit.

Yes that is correct, I can not say for sure, but I think you can leave it upright.

Some plasmas you have to lay face down because the stand blocks removal of the back.

Replacing the fan is usually easy .

Tommorrow I will check the manual and post if I see anything different than what we already know.
