The picture on my 42" Samsung LCD TV is dark. I have tried adjusting the brightness, but nothing has helped. What could the problem be?

Thank you for asking your question on Just Answer.

Could you explain your situation a little more?

What is the model number of the TV? The model number will be displayed on a tag on the back of the TV near where the power cord is attached.

How long have you owned the TV?

What have you tried to correct the problem?

Do you wish to repair this yourself or are you looking for an idea of what the cost to repair the TV will be?

Thank you again for trusting us with your problem. Please reply as soon as possible so that we can finish answering your question.

Thanks for choosing JustAnswer for your TV question!

I also own a Sammy, your Tv has several features that will "dim down" the picture.

One is energy saving mode. Many of these sets are Energy Star sets.

Look through all the menus to find these.

If all else fails, turn off the set, use the samsung remote and press:

Mute-1-8-2-Power in that order.

The set will turn on and go into "factory mode" or a service mode.

Select the "options" or "service" menu, and look for an option called "user reset".

select this option using "enter" or the right arrow.

The set should turn off and come back on (if not then turn it off then on again).

Your problem should be cleared up.

Hope that helps!
