While driving my 2000Honda CRV...
While driving my 2000Honda CRV 5 speed, my car seemed to slipped into neutral and wouldn't move but after setting for a while it would move again. I changed the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing and master cylinder. Still does the same thing. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi, My name is Jay

Have you checked the clutch pedal free travel to see if it is about 1/2 inch? If it is set wrong with not enough free travel then it can cause the clutch not engage when fluid gets warmed up?

Ask Your Own Transmissions Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
No I didn't check that. One other thing. I raised the car up completely and put it in gear and the rear wheels turn, not the front. It's all wheel drive but I thought the front wheels start first and slips then rear wheels start
Transmission Mechanic: Jaybird61, ASE Certified Master Technician replied 8 months ago

When you have AWD it should not be ran on a lift or may cause damage to internal components in transaxle. If you have no movement in front wheels but only rear wheels turn then you may have internal transaxle problems with the AWD system. Check clutch pedal and then if problem continues then have manual transaxle checked for internal damage at a transmission mechanic?

OK. How do I adjust the clutch pedal? Also while I had the car jacked up not running, I manually turned the front wheels on only the driver side turned freely. Does that help any?
Transmission Mechanic: Jaybird61, ASE Certified Master Technician replied 8 months ago

Here is directions for clutch pedal adjustment. You need to loosen lock nut on rod and adjust using the directions and specs in these directions.

Do the adjustment first and then see how it drives. The AWD system uses internal transmission viscous couplers and should be checked by a transmission mechanic do verify any problems if you continue to have slipping problems after pedal adjustment.

I found out that the front axles need to be replaced. Will the axles out of a 2001 Honda CRV that's an automatic work in my 2000 CRV that's a manual transmission?
Transmission Mechanic: Jaybird61, ASE Certified Master Technician replied 8 months ago

No they are different inner joints.

I was told by a parts guy that they were the same according to his book, could you explain what the difference is? Can I use the outer spline from an automatic and the center shaft of a manual? The mechanic said the spline was no good
Transmission Mechanic: Jaybird61, ASE Certified Master Technician replied 8 months ago

i am not a parts expert and my manual does not show me the differences.

Transmission Mechanic: Jaybird61, ASE Certified Master Technician replied 8 months ago

If parts listing say they are the same then go with it. Just compare the two shafts before install.
