62te transmission
Transmission Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago

The P1745 code is an informational code to inform the technician that transmission has been operating in an open-loop line pressure control for 3220 kilometers (2000 miles) or 1000 2-3 upshifts resulting from a Line Pressure DTC. The Transmission is not designed to operate in open-loop line pressure control for an extended period time. This code is intended to protect the transmission. If the P1745 code sets, the transmission controller will place the transmission into limp-in mode. Replacing the line pressure solenoid usually fixes this problem unless there is wiring issues.

just the line pressure solenoid. not the whole solenoid pack?
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
if i do replace the pressure solenoid do I need to take to the shop to clear the code. or will it clear by it self. I do have a basic scan tool.
Transmission Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago

it should clear by itself, and yes only the line pressure solenoid

I do not have the part number. Call your local dealer in the morning. Talk to the parts department. they will need your VIN, then they can give you the part number

ok so after you think the transmission will go out of limp mode automatically
Transmission Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago

yes, if not then the code will need to be reset with a scan tool

Ask Your Own Transmissions Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
I have heard I need a special dealer scan tool. to reset the vlc
Transmission Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago

nott a dealer scan tool, any shop will have a scan tool capable of communicating with the transmission control module

Ask Your Own Transmissions Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
but i have a basic scan tool. I tried clearing it.it still in limp mode."If you have this code and you preform a repair you will need to clear this code for the trans to operate correctly. To clear this code you have VLP Shift Counter and the Output tooth counter. To do this you have to have access to a factory scan tool and go to "Clear Variable Line Pressure (VLP) counters" which is located under the MISC. section in the PCM."
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
Even with the problem, If they clear it, it will be out of limp mode for a short time or the cycle i think its 2000 Miles or 1000 up/downshifts or something. I think i should do that and then go on fixing the problem.
